Mr. Newman is a shareholder in the firm. He joined the firm in 1989 and served as the firm's President in 2003 and 2004. Mr. Newman began his professional career in 1981 with the big eight accounting firm Ernst & Whinney. While at E&W, Mr. Newman became a Certified Public Accountant and practiced in the areas of audit and corporate, partnership and individual income taxation.

Mr. Newman practices in the areas of business and estate planning and taxation. His practice includes tax planning for estates and businesses, preparing wills and trusts for individuals, probate and estate administration, resolving tax controversies and choosing and forming business entities. Mr. Newman also assists many local, family-owned businesses in connection with a variety of business transactions, including buying and selling businesses, licensing, contracts, shareholder agreements and succession planning.

Professional Activities
Mr. Newman is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the San Antonio Bar Association and the San Antonio Estate Planners Council. He has served as the estate/gift taxation editor of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Reporter published by the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Mr. Newman is also a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He served on the board of directors at the state level in 1999 and 2000. On the local level, Mr. Newman is a member of the San Antonio Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants having served on the local board of directors from 1997-1999, as Chairman of the CPE Committee from 1997-1998, and Chairman of the Taxation Committee from 1994-1996.
